Böhler begins producing hard metals under the trade name of Böhlerit in Düsseldorf, Germany. In addition to the German market, 17 other countries are supplied right from the start.

In addition to the manufacturing facility in Germany, a second production plant is established in Kapfenberg, Austria, now the company headquarters.
1967
BÖHLER SERT MADEN begins producing hard metals in Ýstanbul Türkiye as 3rd production plant.
1982
Founding of Böhlerit GmbH as an independant subsidiary company of Böhler Edelstahl. The company head office is moved to Kapfenberg.
1991
The leading company world-wide in the manufacture of woodworking tools, Gebr.Leitz GmbH & Co., acquires 100% of Böhlerit shares. This is also linked to the acquisition of the existing hard metal production facility in Istanbul. The new company, Böhlerit GmbH & Co.KG, integrated into the Leitz group of companies, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of hard metals and tools for working metal, plastic and wood.
1994-1997
Founding of further production facilities in Brazil, Germany and Spain.
1997
Founding of the LMT-Leitz Metalworking Technology Group of companies (Böhlerit, Fette, Kieninger) with own sales subsidiaries in Belgium, Brazil, Great Britain, France, Mexico, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary and the USA.
2000
Other companies (Belin Y., Bilz and Onsrud Cutter) participate to LMT group.
